Mental Health and Homelessness in the UK

The UK has a homelessness crisis that needs to be dealt with. There are many different issues that the homeless have to deal with.

One of the many concerns is the mental health issues that can arise because of their circumstances.

Depression

Being homeless can easily lead an individual to depression. There are many reasons why people end up homeless in the first place. There are families that are finding themselves living on the streets. The parents of the homeless children are living in despair. This can lead them to depression. Once this happens then this is just another problem for them to have to deal with. Unfortunately, until a solution can be found for what has led them to the depression is found, it can be a losing battle.

Pre Existing Mental Health Conditions

There are some people who end up living on the streets because of their mental health issues. These are people who have not been able to get the help they need. Their mental health condition could have caused them to end up in poverty. Poverty which then led them to become homeless.

There is no doubt that mental health has to be part of the priorities that are needed to solve the problem.
