Involvement

Community Insight supports people to influence the design of policies and delivery of services that affect them.

We create an environment where homeless and vulnerable people, and members of the wider community, can help themselves. We also encourage everyone we work with to contribute to our strategy creation and planning processes by inviting them to take part in management and consultation meetings.

Involve U Project

A series of projects commissioned by the Supporting People teams in Brent and Hammersmith & Fulham, and Brent DAAT, to coordinate client involvement.

The project started in June 2008 and has successfully achieved the following aims:

  • Training 17 clients from Hammersmith & Fulham and Brent in peer consultancy skills (accredited training),
  • Produced user-led newsletters (Spring and Summer 2009 editions),
  • Engaged with over 350 clients from both boroughs,
  • Set up three self-help and advocacy groups:
    1. BHEARD (Supporting People Brent),
    2. SPIN (Supporting People Hammersmith & Fulham),
    3. B-3 (Brent Drug and Alcohol Action Team).

The Involvement Blog

Involving and empowering vulnerable people is at the heart of what we do and we wanted to share our experience (our ideas, opinions, mistakes and best practice) with others working in this area.
