Then read on as Lift are recruiting volunteers for this exciting project!
Brent Council are working with service users to shape how local adult social care services (ASC) are delivered. To ensure this happens, Lift has been commissioned to recruit and train a broad spectrum of service users to become involved in the process.
Service users that are recruited to participate in the project will be able to have their voices heard and influence decision making processes at Brent Council and be supported throughout the project by Lift. Activities that service users will be able to participate in include conducting Safeguarding visits to care homes, monitoring and reviewing contracts with ASC’s external providers such as Meals on Wheels, and being consulted on various ASC Strategies.
The service users in the project will be split into 3 main areas for interest which are Procurement, Contact Management, and Strategy. All service users will also part of an overall Service User Group (SUG) called Bheard.
To ensure that Lift is able to support Bheard effectively we think its important to offer both individual and group support to empower members to influence change. The role of the Volunteer Mentoring Coordinator has been created to support the service users as part of this project.
There are currently 47 service users that are engaged with the ASC Involvement Project as Bheard with Brent Council. The role will offer support that will aim to address each of the service user’s individual needs through 1:1 meetings conducted on a regular bases with the Volunteer Mentoring Coordinator. This will support Lift to capture any individual learning needs, concerns, training needs, and manage expectations.
The Volunteer Mentoring Coordinator and the Involvement Coordinator will use the information collected from these 1:1 meetings and monitoring systems to better inform the project, capture lessons learnt, and deliver training to meet the group’s needs. There is also scope for the Volunteer Mentoring Coordinator to deliver training and workshops to further support Bheard.
Volunteerism is valued at Lift and we try to ensure that all our volunteers are supported within their roles. As a volunteer you will be assigned a line manager who will ensure that:
