Lift helps adult service users to advise LB Brent on major changes

Lift’s new Training Manager Caroline Todd-Earlam is supporting LB Brent to recruit and train people who receive adult social care services to become involved in shaping the services they use. Over the next few months she will be providing training, information and support to users of daycare services, meals on wheels, supported housing etc. to help them have a say in Brent’s strategic review of services. They can become involved in three areas:

  1. Strategy development, developing the involvement and engagement strategy for the council.
  2. Contract management, choosing the services who provide services and making sure they are accountable.
  3. Procurement, being involved in the buying in of services used by the council.

We held the first preparation session on the 27th November. 12 people attended a four hour training session, afterwards we sat together over lunch. People who attended received refreshments, travel, a certificate of attendance (which can be added to a C.V.) and access to Lift’s employment service. If you are interested in wanting to make a difference to the services you use in please contact Caroline at Lift 0208 9652561 [email protected].
