Harlesden Community Plan - Scoping Event 2nd June 14

Lift is developing a community driven approach to tackle causes of disadvantage within Harlesden, addressing local issues linked to homelessness, unemployment and exclusion. This is consistent with the evolving needs around homelessness as a result of changes in the local housing market, the need to strengthen community resilience in facing cuts in services and also with the wider context of growing emphasis on localism. The local approach will be built around the development of a Harlesden Community Plan.

We are developing this plan working with others - residents, Brent council and other statutory services as well as with local faith and community organisations. We believe that this plan should be developed and owend by those who lives and works in Harlesden.

What’s happened so far

Our first co-production scoping event took place on 2 June with the support of Brent Housing, Employment, Community Safety and Public Health Teams as well as local service users, residents and agencies. The consultation established both a strong need and strong support for developing the kind of locally led networks we are proposing, and identified key themes for a Harlesden Community Plan:

• Housing & Homelessness

• Employment

• Health

• Community Safety

• Businesses & space
