Employer Engagement

We seek to make links with local employers in order to provide training, voluntary and working opportunities for our clients.

Current Opportunities:

COSMUR Construction are a local construction company based in Queens Park. Every few months the Managing Director and Construction Director at COSMUR hold an Open Day at Lift where they talk to our clients about what they do and what they look for in an employee. They also give clients the opportunity to apply and interview for a month-long work placement in the company.

Two clients are selected and get experience in any area of their choice, including admin, surveying or working on-site. It is a great opportunity forLift clients to get an insight into the construction industry as well as to build confidence, skills and experience, and get a reference.

Although there are no guarantees of a job at the end of the placement, this year one of our clients, Rio Brown Clair, impressed COSMUR so much that he is now employed by them full time as a trainee manager. Well done Rio!

They sometimes lack a competitive edge however, due to gaps in their CVs as a result of difficulties experienced in the past which have now been overcome. We support our clients to develop their skills, confidence and motivation to get to a stage where they are truly ready to take on paid employment. What we can offer you:

  • No recruitment fees – We do not charge recruitment fees. Our focus is on providing the best support and opportunity for our clients.
  • Same pool of clients – Many of our clients are registered with local recruitment agencies. Employers are therefore paying to recruit someone who they could recruit for free through us.
  • Continuing support – We offer continuing one:one support to clients who have found employment. So should there be any difficulties, we are available to work through issues with the client and support them through any teething problems.
  • Genuine interest in meeting employer needs – We work one to one with our clients and know them well. Our focus is on supporting them into employment which they are prepared and motivated for. We therefore have an invested interest in matching clients to placements/jobs which we feel they will succeed in and that will be sustained.
