The Problem of Empty Homes

Lift have launched a campaign in Brent to improve the situation of empty homes. There are many reasons to return these properties to use:

  • There are over 3,000 empty homes in Brent,
  • There are over 20,000 people on Brent’s housing register,
  • Local problems from empty property includes anti-social behaviour, vermin and rubbish, neighbourhood property devaluation, vandalism and substance misuse,
  • Landlords can lose an average of £16,000 income per year.
